Our Move to Kigali

In September of 2015 Rwanda for Justice was given an opportunity to work more closely with the governments of Rwanda and the United States after being awarded authority to administer a U.S. State Department grant designed to improve capacity of the Rwandan justice system to investigate and prosecute cases of child sexual violence. This partnership is in keeping with the values of Rwanda for Justice, and we consider it an honor and privilege to partner with agencies tasked with undertaking such a difficult yet important function of government.
Humura Centre, which operated for over three years in the city of Butare, was downsized and co-located with another non-profit organization called IWACU. Humura staff provide counseling and other services to survivors (and their families) of sexual assault in pursuit of long-term holistic care.
The main office of Rwanda for Justice has moved to Kicukiro District in Kigali. Our staff currently focus on psycho-social aspects of aftercare with a long-range view of holistic healing, and implementing prevention strategies for vulnerable children. We anticipate collaborating with leaders in the legal, medical, and criminal justice sectors of the government service by the end of 2016. Some technological upgrades to the Isange One Stop Centres are in the works, as well.
Rwanda for Justice (USA) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations for the ongoing work outside the scope of this grant are entirely tax deductible. Rwanda for Justice (Rwanda) is a legally registered Non-Government Organization.
